Under the weather

I finally caught a cold that seems to be going around so I'm just taking it easy for a while. Luckily, no tenants are complaining about anything lately. This is the latest movie I rented. I gave it two stars because, like me, it also was a bit under the weather.

Rally's Hamburgers

Yesterday I took the Zuumer to Rally's Hamburgers in Glendale. I've only been there once before. The hamburgers there are GREAT!
Afterwards I did some gardening at 1266.

I would give this movie 3 stars.

Today we gave away one of the kittens to a girl named Tracie who coincidenly lives in the Chapman Manor.

My pick for Idol

That was the best results show ever. Especially when Taylor was given the tough choice of choosing which set of three contestants of the remaining six he was supposed to stand by that were not in the "bottom three". He purposely started to choose the three with Ace, Chris, and Paris but at the last second, turned around and chose to stand with Katherine, Kelly, and Elliot. He made the right choice and the audience went wild. It was one of the best Idol moments ever.

Katherine blew everyone away including all three judges with this song. Simon said she made the other contestants look like "good amateurs".

Monday again

Today I thought I'd take down a rather large tree branch on Hudson. I started using the chain saw and a ladder but ended up, for safety sake, using the pole saw. The new gutters on 1266 had to be cleaned. I'm going to buy a special pole hose to do the job in the future.

Because of your request, Jonnie, I'm going to start posting the movies I see and give them a rating.

Easter at Diane's

We had a really good time at Diane's today. Loni made a fabulous dinner that looked and tasted like it was professionally catered. If one picture is worth a thousand words then here's seven thousand words.

Up on the roof

It's been over ten years since I've been up on the garage roof to clean off the leaves and debris. It took three 32 gal. garbage cans full to do the job. I had to lower each can to the ground using the hose as a rope and the hose sprayer hooked on to the can's handle. I wish I had taken a video of the process, as it would have been very entertaining (well, at least to me).

The boys are back in town

Today Jonnie and I went to see Barbara for a mini reunion. She's doing fine, it was really nice to see her. Then we drove back to get Ronda and went to pick up Lynne for lunch at Father Natures in Old Town. After desert at 21 Choices, Michael came to pick Jonnie & Ronda up to visit a family member but not before we had a chance to visit the Apple store to take these fun pictures.

Saturday morning

You can't tell...but we are having a good time...really we are

Yesterday I went to the Bob Hope Airport to pick up Jonnie and Ronda at 10:15 A.M. They're staying until Tuesday. We dropped Ronda off at the Paseo mall to do some shopping and then went up to Hudson and got the Zuumer and drove up to the old block to reminisce. Jonnie called Kyle from in front of her old house. Barbara wasn't home at the time but she called back later. We might see her on Monday. We drove around town and went down to see Jonnie's uncle's old house on Prospect. It was beautiful with a running brook in the front yard. Then we drove back to Hudson to get the Rav4 and then pick up Lynne and Ronda to go to lunch. In the meantime, Jonnie called Jackie and talked about having a reunion maybe next year. We ate at the Corner Bakery then went to the Big Five because Jonnie insisted I should get a pair of polarized sun glasses before my eyes wrinkle and fall off. They were on sale so we both bought a pair. Next we drove back to Michael's house where we had a nice visit and heard Michael's newly composed music. We ended the day with everyone going out to eat at Rudy's. We had a wonderful time.

Friday on my mind

I had a lot to do on Friday. First, I had to fix the toilet at 1260, it needed a new flush valve. The thermostat in the hallway needs replacement and since I would have to remove it to make sure I get the right one, I chose to inform the tenants first and do the job on another day. Next I drove home to pick up some things to take back to the Home Depot, then on the way stopping to exchange Annie's medicine at the vet and depositing a rent check at the bank. Then I came back home to install new garage door springs. The door was so heavy that I had to ask Lynne to help. After finishing the installation, she wanted me to plant a rose, two azaleas, and a fern. After that I headed back to Hudson and fed all the plants around the property and then washed and vacuumed the Rav4. Somewhere between all that, I managed to take out the Zuumer and have lunch at the Grinder...What a day.

Back to work

Monday I received an email from 1266 about fixing his toilet and shower problem. The toilet needed auging, a float and a flapper chain adjustment. The shower needed both washers to be replaced.
Coincidently, I was told of a toilet problem in 1260 and made an appointment this Friday to fix it.
Last week #13 phoned me early in the morning to state that he could not open the front door to leave his apartment because the door was stuck, apparently from the recent rain. I instructed him to pull up on the handle and pull the door open at the same time. When that didn't work, I called a neighbor of his to help him open the door. That worked but the tenant decided not to go to work because of the delay.
